FAQ

mHBOT

What is Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

mHBOT is a therapy that involves breathing concentrated oxygen (up to 95%) in a pressurised chamber at a gentle pressure—typically between 1.3 and 2.0 ATA (atmospheres absolute). Unlike hospital-grade HBOT, which uses higher pressures and pure oxygen, mHBOT provides a milder, safer experience.

This increase in pressure allows oxygen to dissolve more efficiently into your bloodstream and tissues, delivering it directly to your cells, organs, and even hard-to-reach areas of the body. The result is enhanced healing, reduced inflammation, improved energy, and better overall resilience.

What are the benefits of using mHBOT?

mHBOT has been studied for a wide range of health applications. Research and clinical experience suggest it can:

  • Reduce inflammation and pain in conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic injuries.
  • Support brain health, including recovery from traumatic brain injury (TBI), improved focus, and cognitive performance.
  • Enhance wound healing and post-surgical recovery by stimulating collagen and new blood vessel formation.
  • Boost immune function and resilience against infections. o Assist in detoxification from toxins and heavy metals.
  • Improve mental health and mood, with studies showing benefits for anxiety and depression.
  • Increase cellular longevity, with some studies suggesting positive effects on telomere length.

Many people also use mHBOT for general wellness, athletic recovery, and anti-aging—helping to restore energy and vitality.

Do I need to have an initial consultation if I’ve already used mHBOT before?

Yes, if it is your first time using a chamber at any of our CellRegen locations, you will need to have an initial orientation with our staff.

Who Is It For?

mHBOT isn’t just for athletes or high performers—it can benefit people at every stage of life. Common groups include:

  • Athletes and busy professionals seeking faster recovery and sharper performance.
  • Individuals recovering from illness, surgery, or injury who want to speed healing.
  • Older adults who want to maintain strength, resilience, and longevity.
  • People with chronic conditions such as autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, or inflammation.
  • Anyone looking to enhance their vitality, brain function, or general well-being.

In short, mHBOT supports both performance and recovery, making it valuable whether your goal is peak fitness, healthy aging, or simply feeling stronger and more resilient.

Who Can Not Use mHBOT?

These conditions don’t always exclude someone, but they require medical supervision or clearance from a GP or specialist:

  1. Ear or sinus infections / blocked ears: Pressure changes can cause ear or sinus barotrauma.
  2. Recent ear surgery or eardrum perforation: Pressure can disrupt healing or cause discomfort.
  3. Respiratory infections or colds: Mucus or congestion may make it hard to equalize ear pressure.
  4. Severe COPD or emphysema with CO₂ retention: Extra oxygen may alter breathing drive.
  5. Uncontrolled high fever or active infection: HBOT can worsen discomfort until the infection is managed.
  6. Pregnancy: While there’s limited data on safety, it’s generally avoided as a precaution.
  7. Certain chemotherapy drugs (like Bleomycin, Doxorubicin, Cisplatin, or Disulfiram use): These can interact with oxygen exposure and increase risk of toxicity.
  8. Seizure disorders not well controlled: Rarely, oxygen can lower seizure threshold.
  9. Severe claustrophobia: May make it difficult to tolerate time in the chamber.
  10. Recent chest or eye surgery: Pressure changes may interfere with healing (always check with surgeon).
